Our staff will welcome you at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu upon your arrival and transfer you to the Hotel Shakti, Thamel on a private vehicle. We will then start the race registration and bibs distribution at Himalayan Medics followed by refreshment. We drive to Nagarkot by 5:00PM.
Race days in Nagarkot Hills, on the eastern edge of Kathmandu Valley
Our trip extension begins today, we traverse through the forests of Nagarkot and descend down first on gravel road before starting the ascend that will take us through tamang villages. The traditional houses and terrace farming this is will give you a good overview of the village lifestyle. After lunch we enter the Shivapuri National Park, walking through lush green vegetation of the park will be rewarding, after few more hours walking we reach chisapani where we spend the night. The day starts with a steep descent that will lead us to Pati Bhanjyang(1,768m) we follow the trail which bring us to Thana Bhanjyang where our trail meets with two other trails from here we start ascending up to reach Chipling. After Chipling village we continue towards Namche Danda, we go downhill from here through oak forest to Gul Bhanjyang and finally reach Kutumsang. (Overnight at Kutumsang)
Our trek starts on a ridgetop where the the views of terrace farming opens up on both sides, trail continues through a dense forest to Mangengnoth, we continue our trek aside fluttering prayer flags we will soon reach tadapani where we rest for the night. (Overnight at Tadapati)
Tadapati is preached on the crest of a hill it is also a common route for another trail known as helambu circuit. We enter the alpine landscape, from this point on the views are dominated by big mountains. We stop at Ghopte for sleep. (Overnight at Ghopte)
Today we enter the Gosaikunda valley, trails continues through the forest and ravine until Phedi. The trail from this point on will be difficult until Laurebina Pass, so caution is advised. The trail is steep and a section has a dramatic drop to the left. After the pass the trails heads down until the We reach the magnificent grounds of Gosaikunda, this land is considered holy as such it is frequented by devotee who come here for pilgrimage. Kunda means water reservoir, this area has a dozen lakes spread out in a larger section. We stay at Gosaikunda tonight. (Overnight at Gosiankunda)
Today we explore the area, visit the lakes and enjoy the Magnificent view of the Langtang range, Dorje Lakpha, Manaslu range, Tibetan peaks, Ganesh himal and Langtang Lirung. If the day is very clear we can see the annapurna range in the far-west. For those that love the hindu mythology the kunda was formed by Lord Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after swallowing poison that threatened to destroy the world. There you it ! a story worth contemplating. Perhaps now it’s more clear as to why we referred gosaikunda as a holy place. We return back to our teahouse in the evening. (Overnight at Gosiankunda)
We cross a small ridge to reach the grazing pastures alongside a few huts. The views will be as beautiful as yesterday with rolling hills in the south and mountains in the north and we. We will mostly walk downhill until we reach Laurabina where,we call it a day. (Overnight at Laurebina)
You will be delight how the views still keep you entertained in Laurebina, we continue down until Chalang Pati from here we cut through ridge tops until we reach Sing Gompa a tibetan village. We are now below the rain line after Chandan Bari, there are plenty of Rhododendron Forest, you are lucky because its April and rhododendrons will still be blooming in full glory. The gradient here will be easier we will trek down to Durasgang and continue until we reach Syabrubesi while enjoying the himalayan views, rustic village and mountains lifestyle. Tonight we stay at Syabrubesi. (Overnight at Syabrubesi)
After breakfast we start a 5 hrs drive through the north western hills to reach kathmandu. We spend the night at thamel. (Overnight at Kathmandu)
Time to say goodbye to Nepal for this year, we know you don’t want to leave but how are you going to come back if you down leave silly, I know !! but we are sure of one thing, you will leave with a smile on your face. Our transport will leave you to the airport. Bon Voyage!
